Founder's Message.
Greetings to all,
I am honored to introduce myself as Nana Kilemi, a breast cancer champion, a mother of two wonderful boys, and the proud founder and board chairperson of the Needy Cancer Healthy Initiative. Our journey began just four months ago with a resolute mission: to extend a helping hand to those cancer patients whose circumstances have rendered them unable to access vital medical treatments due to the harsh reality of financial constraints. These individuals grapple with the burden of insufficient funds therefore face an uphill battle of securing resources to cover the crucial NHIF costs.
It is in this context that we, a group of compassionate individuals, have come together. As we stand in awe of the comprehensive support that NHIF provides to cancer patients, my friends and I recognized the profound impact we could make by orchestrating monthly fundraisers to sponsor the treatment of those we can assist. The collective commitment shines brightly: each member contributes a minimum of KShs. 1,000 while others graciously support an entire patient’s coverage generously with KShs. 12,000 per month.
In only one year since our inception, our initiative has blossomed. We initiated our efforts by supporting four patients, and as of last month, we celebrated the achievement of extending our reach to assist a heartwarming total of 11 patients, subsequently growing to 90. This rapid expansion speaks volumes about the power of unity and compassion in action.
Today, I humbly reach out to you, friends of good hope, with an earnest appeal. I ask you to join hands with us in this noble endeavor. The challenges faced by these individuals are profound; our waiting list has swollen to include thousands of patients, each of whom pins their hope on us to secure their NHIF coverage that stands between them and their treatments. We must rise to this challenge and provide relief to those who need it most.
Our commitment doesn’t end at medical support alone. Many individuals also endure the harsh realities of hunger. As an organization, we have embarked on a mission to provide basic sustenance to some patients, making their journey toward recovery not marred by the pangs of an empty stomach.
Furthermore, we acknowledge the pressing need for assistive aids in the form of colostomy bags, crotched boobs, compressors, and medications. The path toward healing is not without obstacles, but we aim to alleviate as many of these challenges as possible.
If the profundity of our cause resonates with your heart, we extend an open invitation for you to join us. Together, we can harness our collective energies to bring about transformation in the lives of those who are most vulnerable. Through actions, we honor and glorify a higher purpose, striving to make a lasting impact for the greater good.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Nana Kilemi.
